A Wyoming Department of Transportation plow truck was damaged in a hit and run incident on Interstate 80 Monday.

The incident happened near mile marker 182 on I-80 westbound between Wamsutter and Creston Junction.

A semi-truck struck the back of the snow plow while it was working to clear the road. The semi did not stop and continued down I-80 as the plow driver pulled over to file a report with the Wyoming Highway Patrol, as per protocol.

WYDOT says the sander of the plow was damaged and will need to be repaired. The driver was unharmed.

"The crash serves as a reminder to drivers of all vehicles to be aware of snow removal equipment during winter conditions," said a WYDOT representative in a release. "Drivers should give plows plenty of space to work and use extreme caution when passing."

Travelers can use wyoroad.info and the Wyoming 511 app for the latest road conditions.
