Winter weather advisories are now in effect for the Bighorn and the Wind River Mountain mountain ranges until 6 p.m. Sunday, and cold and rain will persist until Monday, according to the Riverton office of the National Weather Service.

The advisory for the Bighorn Mountains extends to northwestern Natrona County from the Montana border through Sheridan, Big Horn, Johnson and Washakie counties.

In Natrona County, expect light snow and a low of 35 tonight, a high of 44 on Sunday, and a low of 34 on Sunday night.

Elsewhere, the Weather Service says widespread mountain snowfall returns tonight.

"Widespread rainfall in the basins and valleys will turn to snow in some places late
tonight and Sunday morning," according to the Weather Service. "Significant snowfall amounts are expected across the mountains."

On Sunday and Sunday night, more significant snowfall is
expected in the mountains. Rain and snow will occur in the lower elevations.

Snow levels may drop to below 6,000 feet in some locations. The most significant snowfall accumulations will occur east of the divide and across southwest

The weather is expected to clear by Monday night.
