CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The University of Wyoming Faculty Senate is recommending that the UW Foundation and its counterpart at Colorado State University wait five years before selling a southeast Wyoming ranch.

The UW Foundation and CSU Research Foundation have jointly owned the Y Cross Ranch since 1997.

Plans to sell the Y Cross in November are now on hold because the woman who donated the ranch to the two schools has filed suit. Amy Davis' lawsuit alleges the universities haven't fully used the ranch for hands-on education as she intended.

The UW Faculty Senate voted 33-16 last week to recommend waiting five years to sell. Meanwhile, the ranch would be promoted to faculty, staff and students for use as Davis intended.

A UW spokesman says the resolution hasn't changed the university's current plans.
