LARAMIE -- Craig Bohl said he wants to see more consistency and play-making ability from his wide receiving corps.

Today, Wyoming's ninth-year head coach added another weapon to that young unit.

Chase Locke, who spent the past three seasons at Southern Cal, announced on Twitter Thursday that he would be joining the Wyoming football program. The San Antonio, Texas native has four seasons of eligibility remaining.

Locke becomes the eighth player to come to Laramie this offseason via the NCAA Transfer Portal, joining Andrew Peasley (Utah State), Evan Svoboda (Snow College), Jakorey Hawkins (Ole Miss), Deron Harrell (Wisconsin), Cole DeMarzo (Michigan State), TJ Urban (Air Force) and Keelan Cox (Alabama).

Speaking of Cox, the freshman edge rusher teased on Twitter Thursday, "We got a big commitment coming soon. It’s already locked in," he wrote. "Can’t wait till y’all see it. I’m the best recruiter in the nation."

Locke followed up with this tweet after making it official:

Locke, listed at 6-foot-3, 195-pounds, walked on to USC in 2019 but never saw the field in his three seasons in Los Angeles. He entered the portal on Dec. 7.

Coming out of O'Connor High School in Helotes, Texas, Locke received an official offer from Mountain West foe, San Jose State. He also took visits to Texas Tech, Colorado and TCU before becoming a Trojan, according to

As a senior, Locke snagged 36 passes for 672 yards and eight touchdowns, earning All-District First-Team honors. He made the second team as a junior, hauling in 52 balls for 659 yards and seven scores. He also played basketball and ran track and field (sprinter, long and high jumper).

Locke is the 18th native of the Lone Star State on Wyoming's current roster. He joins a wide receivers room that is filled with inexperience and unknowns, led by Gunner Gentry and fellow San Antonio product, Joshua Cobbs.
