The University of Wyoming is hosting and sponsoring a forum on the controversial drilling technique "hydraulic fracturing." The forum begins today and concludes on Tuesday September 27th.

Organizers of the forum hope the presentation will show both sides of the debate on hydraulic fracturing. According to the University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources Director, Mark Northam, a panel of members selected speakers with different opinions and good credentials who would focus on the facts of hydraulic fracturing.

Hydraulic fracturing is also know as "fracking" and consists of pumping water, sand and chemicals underground in order to release trapped oil and gas. The practice is used in almost all oil and gas development in the state.

You can find more information on the hydraulic fracturing forum at the University of Wyoming by visiting UW's website or the Casper Star Tribune.
