Pro steer wrestler and Montana native Beau Clark took over head coaching duties this year at the University of Wyoming and UW all-around cowboy JC Flake came up from his native Arizona to join the Cowboy rodeo attack. As a heeler on the pro tour this past season Flake finished sixth in the Resistol "Rookie of the Year" standings. He and partner Paul Beckett from Laramie won the Mountain States Circuit Finals Rodeo over the weekend in Loveland, CO finishing off three steers in 17.7 seconds. In the previous event, Clark - thankful for the horse and hazing help from Nebraska's Kyle Whittaker - carded the fastest steer wrestling time of the championship round to win the average. That means the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo next March in Florida will feature both a college rodeo coach and a student/athlete from the same team.
