Chief John Kopper says roughly two-thirds of home fire deaths occur in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.

The measure was defeated 31-24 in a Committee of the Whole vote.

Unlike a 2020 bill, this one would allow Wyoming to act alone and would use Mountain Standard Time.

I get it, time change isn't for everyone, and honestly, the purpose of it at this point in time is foggy at best.

The bills were all passed by state lawmakers in the recently-concluded legislative session.

At least 11 states have approved various resolutions to do away with the time changes, and others are pending in other states.

Rep. Dan Laursen said the time change hurts people, including the elderly and school children.

The bill came very close to being approved in 2019, winning approval by a 35-21 vote in the house and losing on a tied Senate vote.
