Wyoming Cowboy fans know how valuable Leonard Washington was as a red-shirt junior to the team last season. He was a second-team All-Mountain West and All-District 17 selection and led UW in scoring (12.9 ppg) and rebounding (6.9 rpg). It all was part of the 21-12 season, in which the Cowboys were back in the post-season for the first time since 2009.

To many of us, a summertime not spent on the water, is a poorly spent summertime. Within the city limits of Laramie, there are not any lakes or ponds that are good for swimming or boating, but there are a good amount of indoor and outdoor pools. Places to swim are good, because swimming is, to many, a necessity to the summer, but to many of us, pools just don’t cut it in the summer months.

Not only is it road construction season in Laramie, it’s also time to get out and start on those home improvement projects that have been lingering all winter. Whether it’s spring cleaning, cleaning up the yard or painting the house, there always seems to be a never ending list of things to do.

Whether it’s a local brand, store made or a national/worldwide chain, people love doughnuts. In fact worldwide, according to AIB International, people around the world spent more than $563 million on doughnuts during a calendar year that ended in March 2011...

I make no secret of the fact that I like food; specifically, fried chicken. In Laramie, there are places to get fried chicken, (or non-fried chicken if you’re into that), but since the closure of Slingers, there is not a restaurant in town that primarily sells chicken. With the Slingers lot vacant, it seems like a good fit for another restaurant franchise, and though there are many chicken restaurant franchises nationwide, two of the most recognizable are Kentucky Fried Chicken and Chick-Fil-A.

Some things just go hand-in-hand with summertime. There are plenty of things that are just better to do when school is out and so is the sun. Among all the great summertime activities, few trump a good old-fashioned cookout. Hot dogs or hamburgers, along with a cool canned beverage, sounds nearly perfect on a hot summer day.
