Police say the scammers are reaching people via Facebook Messenger through profiles that have been compromised.

Black Hills Energy is warning customers about a company claiming to be partnering with the utility on solar panel rebates.​

An unnamed Laramie business received a phone call this week from a person claiming to be an employee requesting a change of account form for direct deposit.

The lawsuit accuses the company of misrepresenting its products and affiliations and of using unfair acts and practices to sell merchandise.

Police are investigating, but Stroup says the money is likely unrecoverable.

The Albany County Sheriff’s Office is urging people to be cautious after some Albany County residents were recently exposed to scam phone calls.

The department says anyone who receives an unscheduled call from a caller who asks for personal information should immediately call their caseworker to report the call.
