This year snow is something we have had no shortage of in Wyoming, however by mid May there is some expectation that inclimate weather is coming to an end. However a spring snow storm that rolled into southeast Wyoming late last night has once again close I-80, turning Laramie into a truck stop. While roads in town are mostly melting off due to the warmer temperatures seen in recent weeks this is not the case up around the summit. Take a look at these webcams and you can see why WYDOT closed I-80 down; not a pretty picture.

It looks like about an 80% chance of snow continuing through the day today so it might take a while for the storm to clear out before WYDOT can reopen the closed portion of I-80. Fortunately the US-287 to Fort Collins is open and not looking nearly as bad if you are planning on heading down to Colorado today. The current weather radar shows most of the storm centered right over I-80 while US 287 is mostly clear. For more webcams and the latest information visit our road conditions page.

On my way to work I snapped a few pictures of the truck parking lot that Laramie always becomes when I-80 closes. I am sure Wal-Mart and other area businesses enjoy the influx of traffic when this happens! Unfortunately all this precipitation is not good news with the Laramie river already starting to rise.
