Spc. Danielle Saban was awarded the 1st Lt. Leif E. Nott Laramie County Community College (LCCC) Army ROTC Scholarship at the college in Cheyenne on Monday.  She is a freshman ROTC student from Evanston and a soldier with the Wyoming Army National Guard's 133rd Engineer Company, based in Laramie.

Saban was chosen by the cadre of the Wyoming Army National Guard administered ROTC program for her outstanding performance, contribution and attitude.

The scholarship was presented by Marine Corps veteran Leo Sanchez, a veteran of the Korean War.  Sanchez established the scholarship in Nott's name according to the Wyoming Military Department.  Nott was killed on July 30, 2003 while on patrol in Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 10th Calvary, and was buried in Cheyenne.

A release from the Wyoming Military Department says the partnership between the Wyoming Army National Guard and LCCC allows students to enroll in the first two years of Army ROTC, then transfer to the University of Wyoming. LCCC Army ROTC student are not under a military obligation.
