A single-engine Beechcraft A36 Bonanza crashed in the Wind River Range in western Wyoming taking the lives of a Colorado couple. It marks the third time this year that a plane has crashed in the the Wind River Range.

Fremont County authorities have identified the couple as Robert A. Dawson and Elaine Dawson of Parker, CO. The crash happened approximately 20 miles west of Lander at almost 11,000 feet in elevation. The plane was scheduled to land at a Denver area airport but was reported missing around 12pm Sunday. A search helicopter located the downed plane several hours later.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration the plane was registered to a Parker, CO company. The plane took off from Driggs, ID and was headed towards a Denver area airport. The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
