A portion of the large dog friendly off leash area at Optimist Park will be temporarily closed for reseeding due to impacts on vegetation. The designated sections will remain closed until July 11.

City staff has evaluated the reseeded area of the park and has determined that the germination of the seed was a success. They say that additional time is needed for the area to heal and to establish a healthy grass foundation. Parks staff has requested that people not cross the construction fencing to protect the grass during this process.

Access to the fenced large dog area through the regular entrance will be available, as well as temporary access from Spruce Street through the service gate.

The small dog friendly off leash area at Optimist Park will remain open for use by both large and small dogs along with the eastern portion of the large dog area. The dog friendly off leash area at Aragon located north of the Aragon Softball Complex near 22nd and Harney Streets will continue to be open.
