The race of Albany County Sheriff has heated up right before the 2018 election, as the challenger has levied some serious allegations that the current sheriff has now responded to.

Tim Hale is the challenger and visited with host David Settle last Tuesday during the ‘Laramie Live on KOWB’ radio morning show. Hale spoke about a number of reasons he’s running, raised allegations of misuse of funds, misuse of vehicles, and more. He discussed being a ‘career politician,’ reimbursement to the county, accountability, response to complaints, prospects of hiring more deputies, more.

Current Albany County Sheriff Dave O’Malley is seeking a third term in office with this election. After not responding to some of the allegation candidate Tim Hale has brought up, Sheriff O’Malley finally chose to speak out on his personal time.

O’Malley also spoke with host David Settle for the ‘Laramie Live on KOWB’ radio morning show. He talked about his background and passion for being in law enforcement. He talked about how this campaign has been unlike the past two. O’Malley answered to the allegations brought up by candidate Hale in the interview and went through what has happened and how they’ve gotten equipment in Albany County. Plus, the sheriff spoke about the misuse of a county vehicle, his opponent, things he’d like to see happen if re-elected, and more.

Early voting is nearly complete, and absentee ballots are coming due. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
