Purcell’s Perseverance Pays off With Big Payday in Denver
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Denver Broncos nose tackle Mike Purcell has been cut 10 times by NFL teams after going undrafted out of the University of Wyoming. He even gave the ill-fated Alliance of American Football a try before signing with the Broncos last year. Purcell helped turn around Denver's run defense when he was inserted into the lineup in Week 5 last season. The Broncos have now rewarded the 29-year-old journeyman defensive lineman with a three-year extension worth nearly $15 million.
