A panel that oversees the juvenile justice system in Laramie County is asking for information about any violent incidents that may have occurred at a Cheyenne juvenile jail operated by a Colorado company.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reported Saturday that the panel’s attorney says some panel members have concerns about possible violence there.

The attorney, Sylvia Hackl, says she has no reason to believe any wrongdoing occurred.

The Laramie County Juvenile Services Joint Powers Board asked for information from the state Department of Family Services and Cornerstone Programs of Centennial, Colo., which manages the Southeast Wyoming Juvenile Center east of Cheyenne.

The Laramie County commissioners are weighing whether to continue contracting with a private company when a new juvenile jail is completed or let the sheriff’s department run it.
