Two Wisconsin residents were arrested Thursday after state troopers stopped their vehicle on U.S. Highway 220 near Casper and allegedly found some 123 pounds of marijuana.

Thong Xiong, 29, and Choua Khang, 30, were booked into the Natrona County Detention Center. The street value of the marijuana is estimated at $307,000.

According to a news release from Wyoming Highway Patrol Sergeant Kyle McKay, troopers stopped a Chevrolet Silverado after seeing it traveling 71 mph in a 65-mph speed zone shortly before 8:30 a.m.

After being stopped, Xiong allegedly told troopers that he was traveling from Grenada, California to Sioux Falls, South Dakota before heading home to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.

Khang, when asked about the pair's travel plans, reportedly told a conflicting story.

Troopers saw several boxes, and Xiong allegedly admitted to having drugs inside the vehicle. A drug dog reportedly alerted to the odor of narcotics.

A search of the vehicle turned up 111 individual vacuum-sealed packages containing marijuana. The packages were found inside a large box, a modified washing machine and a purse, according to the Patrol.

The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation was brought in to assist with the investigation.

Khang faces charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, felony possession and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance.
