The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research has appointed a new president. The organization manages The National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, CO.The University Corporation for Atmospheric Reasearch or UCAR has appointed Thomas J. Bogdan to the position.

Bogdan will take on his new role as President of UCAR beginning in January. As of now Bogdan is director of the Space Weather Prediction Center which is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The National Center for Atmospheric Research studies environmental factors such as climate change, severe weather and geomagnetic storms as well as several other weather related factors. A super computer that will be used by the center is currently being built in Cheyenne, WY. The super computer will greatly increase research productivity not only for the center but for research being conducted at the University of Wyoming, and other research facilities in the region.
