Natrona’s Gabriella Haigler Repeats as Class 4A Diving Champion

Coming from behind on day two, Natrona County junior Gabriella Haigler won her second consecutive Class 4A Diving Championship last weekend in Gillette.

As the girls’ state championship meet, Haigler found herself in a close race with three other competitors. She was in second place seven points behind the leader after the preliminary and semifinal rounds. Haigler turned in on during the finals and pulled out a four-point victory.

Haigler spoke with WyoPreps after her win in the video that’s above. She touched on the tough competition and having to rally for this state title. Haigler also talked about her increased degree of difficulty and reaction after her final dive.

This diving crown was certainly more nerve-racking than last year’s nearly 61-point victory. Haigler will try for a 3-peat next year.
