Natrona County Man in Custody for Shooting Into Home [VIDEO]
A 43-year-old man is in custody for allegedly firing several rounds into a residence north of Casper which was occupied by three adults in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Lyle James Clark, a Natrona County resident, is in the custody of the Natrona County Sheriff's Office, according to Sgt. Aaron Shatto. Two counts of aggravated assault will be recommended to the Natrona County District Attorney's Office.
No one inside the residence was injured in the shooting, but Shatto says a cat was shot and later had to be put down.
"The individual who perpetrated the act targeted that residence purposely," Shatto told reporters Monday afternoon. Shatto says investigators are aware of the weapon used in the shooting, but he declined to release that information.
Shatto would not say whether Clark is the only person suspected of involvement in the shooting. He also would not comment as to Clark's motivation.
Deputies were called to the 3400 block of Plateau Street for a shots fired call at roughly 1:15 a.m. Saturday. Several rounds had been fired through the residence.
"We learned rather quickly it appeared to be an isolated event," Shatto said. Eight shell casings were recovered from the scene, but Shatto says the number of rounds fired during the shooting has not been determined.
Clark was initially described as a person of interest Monday morning, but later became a suspect. He was found within the Casper city limits on Monday and taken into custody.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Natrona County Sheriff's Office at 235-9282.
