A Laramie man stands accused of assaulting his estranged wife and threatening to kill her in front of her children.

Ronald Davis made his initial appearance in court today after an incident which allegedly occurred in the late hours of Sunday, June 29 and early morning hours of Monday, June 30.

According to court documents released by the Albany County District Court, Davis is accused of allegedly pointing a gun at his estranged wife through her bedroom window as she slept and threatening to kill her when she awoke in the late hours of June 29. He is further accused of allegedly entering her home and choking her until she collapsed. The assault allegedly happened in front of her children.

According to the documents, Davis said in an interview that he had sawed off the stock and barrel of a shotgun and soon after went to his estranged wife’s home. Documents say he claimed he went with the intent of violating a protection order so she would call the cops which would result in his getting in a shoot out with police, resulting in his death.

Davis allegedly admitted to being at her home with a shotgun and knife, but he did not recall choking her.

A preliminary hearing has been set for July 9th and his bond is set at $75,000.
