Wyoming Child Support Program Ranked #1 9 Years in a Row

The Wyoming Department of Family Services recently announced that Wyoming's Child Support Program was ranked number one in the nation for the 9th consecutive year in terms of performance and federal standards.

These results came from a study done by a company called Maximus, who specializes in health and human services programs. Maximus compiles data for all of the states and territories, while the North Dakota Child Support director calculates and determines the ranking.

The performances are measured by the number of cases with a child support order, paternity establishment, collection of current support, collection of back-child support, and cost effectiveness. The Wyoming Child Support Program thrived in each of these measures.

The Wyoming Department of Family Services stated that the goals of the Wyoming Child Support program include "finding biological parents, establishing paternity, establishing child support and medical support orders, enforcing child support and medical support orders and modifying existing orders. The CSP also serves as a 'pass through' by receiving and disbursing child support payments to custodial parents."

“We believe this recognition as the nation’s number one performing program demonstrates Wyoming families are receiving the services they need, and families are receiving their court-ordered child support,” said Kristie Arneson, Economic Security senior administrator with DFS. “Those are always our goals. That is a tremendous support for those families, and helps them maintain a consistent, stable and secure living standard for their children. What a great accomplishment, I couldn’t be more proud of our team and their dedication.”
