Junior Alisha Bass found the back of the net in the final minute of double overtime last Friday, and that gave the Wyoming Cowgirls a 1-0 victory over Utah Valley.

Senior Sammi Dunda sent a cross into the box on a corner kick in the final 20 seconds. Bass was able to find the ball through the Wolverines defense with her foot and scored the game-winner.

Wyoming head coach Pete Cuadrado said in a university release,

“Really proud of the team. It was a total team effort and they really battled. It’s an extremely tough Utah Valley team. They’ve defeated UNLV and Oklahoma, so we knew our hands would be full. Credit to our team for I thought they hung in there all game. We got that corner kick with about 20 seconds left and made it count. It feels really good.”

The Cowgirls were out-shot by Utah Valley, 16-to-7. Junior keeper Georgia Rowntree saved seven shots on goal, as the UW defense recorded its third shutout of the season.

Wyoming improved to 4-2-1 on the season. They begin a three-game road swing with a battle against Northern Colorado in Greeley Tuesday at 7 p.m.
