After 7 years of operation, Laramie's Green Waste program is coming to an end. A curbside pickup system will replace it starting August 15th.

Rising costs and demand without a budget increase have rendered the program unsustainable within the city budget. Local waste disposal company McBride's Yard Waste will take over collection duties, and will offer free curbside pickup to Laramie residents for the remainder of the Green Waste season.

"We are excited to partner with the City of Laramie to provide an upgraded green waste service to residents and a solution to a problem the city was facing," writes co-owner Jonathan McBride in a press release. "We also understand that going from a free service to a paid can be hard, and that's why we are letting residents try it out free for the rest of the season," McBride adds.

Those who sign up for the program will receive a 95 gallon cart. Like the Green Waste Program, participants may only put such as: grass clippings, leaves, garden waste, small sticks, and weeds. In future years, the removal program will run from mid-April to mid-November and will cost $69.

The free trial will run until November 17, 2017. To sign up, call 307-399-2028 or click here.
