Garrett Nunn of Laramie was a recent third place finisher in the Light Rifle Championship at last month’s National High School Finals Rodeo in Gillette.

Nunn was the top qualifier with a total of 324 in the opening round on July 19. In the championship round on July 20, Nunn finished with a 642 total, which was one point away from the Reserve Champion shooter or runner-up.

For his efforts, Garrett received a Gist buckle and a $750 scholarship.

Garrett Nunn was the only qualifier from Laramie. During the season he also competed in tie-down calf roping and team roping. He will be a junior this fall at Laramie High School.

The NHSFR is the world’s largest rodeo with over 1600 contestants from 43 states, 5 Canadian Provinces and Australia.
