The possibility of a future closure to 15th Street in Laramie has been a hot topic since it was raised as a footnote in the budget at the state legislature last spring.

Following four public meetings in Laramie at the beginning of October, a report to the Joint Appropriations Committee of the Wyoming Legislature was due Nov. 1. That report show no support for any type of closing of 15th Street between Grand Avenue and Willett Drive in the midst of the University of Wyoming campus.

The “Mondays With The Mayor” series this month was a little different, as Laramie Mayor Andrea Summerville was pulled away due to a legislative revenue committee meeting Monday in Cheyenne that dealt with funding for local governments. City Councilor Pat Gabriel filled in for the mayor.

Gabriel updated us on how the meetings on 15th Street went; provided the latest on the Laramie Landfill fire; talked about the process of finding a new member for Ward 1 of the Laramie City Council and more.

Gabriel also mentioned the City of Laramie has to find $225,000 for the new light that will be installed at the corner of Reynolds and 22nd Streets near the Laramie Middle School.

The “Mondays With The Mayor” series can be heard live the first Monday of each month during the “Laramie Live on KOWB” morning show with host David Settle.
