The Laramie Lady Plainsmen earned their first 4A East Conference win of the season last Friday night with a 34-32 victory at Cheyenne Central over the Lady Indians.

Senior Joey Harris knocked down the game-winning free throws with 3.7 seconds left, and that gave the Laramie girls the breakthrough in conference action they've been looking for.

Central had one last chance, but Emily Evans shot just inside half court hit off the back of the rim and was no good.

Laramie (8-10, 1-4) built an eight point lead in the third quarter, as they got up 18-10, but Central steadily chipped away. LHS led 20-15 going into the fourth quarter before the Lady Indians tied the game on a pair of Evans free throws with 37 seconds left. The Lady Plainsmen worked the ball inside to Harris; she was fouled and then came up with her clutch free throws for the victory.

Caitlan Hensley led Laramie with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Evans led Central (9-9, 1-4) with nine points.

The Lady Plainsmen return to action next Friday, February 14, when they play at the Gillette Lady Camels. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

It was not as good of news for the Laramie Plainsmen, as they lost to the Central Indians 53-43 and remained win-less in the 4A East Conference.

Laramie (3-15, 0-5) led by five points, 20-15, at halftime, but six turnovers in the third quarter ended up costing the Plainsmen the lead. They were never able to recover.

Central (4-11, 1-4) out-scored Laramie 15-5 in the third period and then made 12-15 free throws in the second half, most of which came in the fourth quarter when LHS tried to rally. The Indians scored 23 points in the final quarter and pulled away for the 10-point win.

The Plainsmen were led by Drew Burman with 21 points and eight rebounds.

Josh Fearing, Bryce Francois and Tayton Montgomery all scored 13 points apiece to lead Central.

The Laramie boys return home for their next game against the #1-ranked Gillette Camels next Friday, February 14. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
