Laramie Is Ninth Safest City In Wyoming
According to the folks at Safe Choice Security, Laramie is the ninth safest city in which to live in Wyoming.
A list of Wyoming’s 11 safest cities was created after a careful analysis of 2012 FBI Crime Statistics. Property crime and violent crime statistics were used to get a realistic view of crime in Wyoming towns and cities.
At number nine, Laramie is considered to be safer than only 27% of U.S. cities. The difference between Laramie and the number one safest city in Wyoming, Worland, is quite large with Worland being safer than 87% of U.S. cities.
Laramie has only 1.1 violent crimes per 1000 while property crimes occur more frequently at 27.58 per 1000.
It is noted that the list was compiled excluding towns with populations less than 5,000 people, which excludes a good portion of the state. It is clear some exceptions on this rule were made, however, as Thermopolis is solidly in the number two spot with a population of only 3,045. Still, Laramie is the only town in Wyoming's top five populated cities making the list with Cheyenne, Casper, Gillette and Rock Springs all absent.
