LACC and LEDC Form Strategic Alliance
The Laramie Economic Development Corporation and the Laramie Area Chamber of Commerce have announced that they have made the beginning steps to forming a strategic alliance between the two organizations.
According to a news release, sent jointly by both groups, The Board of Directors of LEDC and the LACC met on April 10th, to discuss the alliance. At the end of that meeting members of both boards approved moving the two organizations joining forces.
The release goes on to say that a consulting firm was retained by LEDC and LACC to study the feasibility of the creation of such an alliance. The firm provided interviews with leaders from Laramie business, civic and academic communities as well as organizational structures adopted by other cities that have adopted such alliances.
Megan Goetz, Board of Directors Chair for LEDC, was quoted in the release. "Wednesday's board discussions and action reflected feelings of great excitement and hope."
Goetz went on to say that they have completed the beginning phase of a process "that will provide greater unity and support to our business community.
Martin Axlund, Board Chair for LACC was also quoted in the release saying, "The decision to build an effective alliance between LACC and LEDC is highly consistent with efforts needed to create a clear and compelling vision for our business community."
The release says one step for the future is a critical funding analysis for the alliance. Noting that present funding processes will be evaluated so they can be improved.
"One of the first challenges the alliance must address involves helping the Laramie business community develop a vision that is consistent with the wants and synergies of its various components," says Axlund. "Alliance programming for LEDC and LACC should flow from that vision."
