Homicide Suspect Identified
Laramie Police have named 29-year-old John Schnitker as a suspect in the death of Clint J. Gartman.
Schnitker, a Laramie resident, is currently in custody at the Albany County Detention Center.
Schnitker was apprehended on Sunday, Sept. 27, on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a burglary charge. He is scheduled to be in Circuit Court tomorrow morning for a preliminary hearing on that charge.
At 10:12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, police responded to the 2000 block of Easterling, where a 911 caller said a man had been assaulted and needed an ambulance. The victim, Clint J. Gartman, was rushed to Ivinson Memorial Hospital, where he died as a result of multiple stab wounds.
Witnesses reported a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt leaving the area just before Gartman was discovered. It has not been confirmed whether or not the man in the sweatshirt turned out to be Schnitker.
