A jury convicted John Michael Schnitker, 30, of first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, and battery Thursday afternoon in Albany County District Court.

“He couldn’t take the time to call nine-one-one,” said Sanford. “But he did take the time to stash that murder weapon.”

“We were all on a mission to try to get some meth that night,” Schnitker said.

"Clint Gartman was a methamphetamine dealer, and John Schnitker was a methamphetamine addict," said Neubauer.

The state does not need to prove that Schnitker had a specific intent to kill Gartman.
