The 29th Annual Hapi-ness 5K Run/Walk will take place in Laramie on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 9 a.m. The event is hosted by the Laramie Junior High School.

The Hapi-ness 5K was established in 1987 by the ninth grade class at Laramie Junior High School in memory of their classmate, Hapi Patterson, who died of leukemia that year.

Proceeds from the race help to assist a local family with expenses due to severe medical conditions. This year’s recipient is Joanne Windham. She is a retired psychiatric nurse who currently works at Indian Paintbrush Elementary School as a paraprofessional. Joanne was diagnosed with ovarian cancer three years ago, and she travels to the University Hospital in Colorado every three weeks for treatment.

Registration for the race is available online at runnercard.com. In addition, people can register at the Laramie Junior High School. The registration cost for the event is $15 with a cotton tee-shirt or $20 for a technical race shirt.
