LARAMIE -- Wyoming's junior wide receiver Gunner Gentry could miss "several months" with a patellar tendon injury, head coach Craig Bohl said Tuesday afternoon during his bi-weekly spring press conference.

"(It's) misplaced or torn or something, but he's going to be out for several months," Bohl said of Gentry's knee injury. "I would say anytime I make these statements, sometimes I overestimate the amount of time that they're going to be out, but I would think it would be doubtful that he'd be back at the first part of at least fall and he may miss all of fall depending on his rehab."

Gentry is coming off a 2020 season in which he hauled in just two catches for 28 yards. One of those grabs was a 22-yard touchdown strike from Levi Williams in a season-opening overtime loss to Nevada.

That was Gentry's first college touchdown catch and the lone one of the year for the Cowboys' offense.

"Don't know why God does what he does ... but I do know his plan for me is sum special. #Godspeed," Gentry wrote on his Instagram page Tuesday.

Gentry has eight career catches for 158 yards during his three seasons in Laramie. The Aurora, Colo., product is the younger brother of former Wyoming wide out, Tanner Gentry, who is currently a member of the Buffalo Bills.

"He was having a really good practice and we were excited about that," Bohl said. "Unfortunately, he's going to be gone for a while. But the word I've got from our sports medicine crew is that he'll come back at 100% it's just probably not going to be as soon as what we need."

Wyoming is returning senior receiver Ayden Eberhardt, as well as Isaiah Neyor, Alex Brown, Joshua Cobbs, Chance Hofer, Devin Jennings and Wyatt Wieland, who all have some playing experience.
