Gunman Who Killed Himself During Casper Hotel Stand-off Identified
The name of the armed suspect who killed himself during Tuesday’s armed standoff at a Casper hotel has been released.
The Natrona County Coroner says 20-year-old Joey Geelan, died in a room at the Super 8 Motel, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Investigators say Geelan, along with 20-year-old Jacob Dziewic, were the gunmen holding four alleged hostages at the hotel on CY Avenue.
Dziewic eventually surrendered to authorities, after releasing three men and a woman that police believed to be hostages.
It appears Geelan killed himself before police entered the room after the 11-hour stand-off.
The coroner says an autopsy on Geelan is scheduled for Friday, August 24th, and they are still waiting on toxicology results which will take about six-to-eight weeks.
