CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Gov. Matt Mead has appointed a new superintendent for Water Division 1.

Mead's office announced that Brian Pugsley will serve as new Division 1 water superintendent. He has served as assistant superintendent and succeeds Randy Tullis, who retired this month.

As Division 1 superintendent, Pugsley will be based in Torrington and will oversee water administration in the North Platte River, Niobrara River, Laramie River, Little Snake River, Medicine Bow River, Sweetwater River and all tributaries within those drainages.

State Engineer Patrick Tyrrell congratulated Pugsley on his appointment, saying his service to the state has been outstanding so far.
