Wyoming Governor Matt Mead is one of ten governors selected to be a part of the Council of Governors. A release from the governors office says the small group of governors will advise the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and the White House Homeland Security Council on matters related to the National Guard and civil support missions.

"I am very proud of the men and women who serve in our National Guard and as Commander-in-Chief of the Wyoming National Guard I am honored to be able to advocate for our troops in conversation with the Department of Defense and with other governors." -Governor Mead

The first meeting for the Council of Governors takes place today at the Pentagon.
