An arrest warrant has been issued for a sex offender who was last known to be living in Sweetwater County after a county-wide sweep on Memorial Day weekend failed to locate him, according to a spokesman for the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department.

The sweep was conducted by sheriff's detectives and deputy United States Marshals. Dick Blust says 58-year-old Bruce Leon Harms was last known to be living in the Blairtown area of Rock Springs. Harms was convicted in 1989 of Oral Copulation by Force.

He later moved to Sweetwater County, and in 2013 he was convicted of Failure to Register as a sex offender in District Court in Green River. He is facing those same charges again after the recent sex offender sweep failed to locate him.

Harms is a white male, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds with long grey-brown hair and blue eyes. Failure to Register, Subsequent Offense, is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, a $1,000 fine or both.Anyone with information on Harms is being asked to contact the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department or their local law enforcement agency.

Blust says during the sweep 89 compliance checks on sex offenders were conducted. Besides Harms,  charges have been filed against one other sex offender for not registering and two other cases are under investigation.
