State Representative Kevin White died of a heart attack at the age of 49 this weekend. He served two terms as State Representative for House District 45 and served almost 30 years in the University of Wyoming Police Department. He also worked as a security officer for the Wyoming Supreme Court.

Governor Matt Mead commented on White’s contributions: “Representative White was a tremendous public servant, serving the people of Albany County in the Legislature, serving the University of Wyoming community as a member of law enforcement, and protecting our Supreme Court as a security officer. We will all miss Kevin’s welcoming personality and his dedication to others. Kevin will be missed, and our thoughts are with his family.”

University of Wyoming President Tom Buchanan responded to the news with recognition of an individual who dedicated his professional life as well as many of his free hours to serving the Laramie community: "The entire UW community is saddened by the untimely death of Kevin White. He was a well-known and respected member of the UW police force and a dedicated employee for nearly 30 years. He also contributed countless hours as a volunteer and as an elected representative to make the Laramie community and the state a better place in which to live. Our thoughts are with Kevin's family and friends at this difficult time."
