Floyd Mayweather Beats Manny Pacquiao By Unanimous Decision
Floyd Mayweather relied on his defense to slip punches and beat Manny Pacquiao in 12 rounds via unanimous decision in their much-anticipated boxing match at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas late Saturday night. With the win, Mayweather captured the unified welterweight world championship and earned a multi-million dollar payday.
The early aggressor, Pacquiao caught Mayweather with a big left in the sixth round, but that punch was the last time the 36-year-old Philippine boxer controlled the fight. Mayweather’s defense and strong right hand over rounds 7, 8 and 9 allowed him to take the lead heading into the final rounds, where he held on for the win on the judges' cards. He remained undefeated at 48-0.
