Another fatality has occurred on a Wyoming highway.

Wyoming Highway Patrol confirmed Thursday that a crash on Interstate 80 about 8 miles west of Laramie has resulted in the death of one man. The WHP said the single vehicle crash happened on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 at milepost 302 around 6:45 p.m.

The 1994 BMW was traveling east on the interstate highway when the driver lost control, went off the roadway and overturned, reportedly due to icy conditions. The driver died on the scene from injuries sustained.

The driver was identified as 61-year-old California resident Reuben Archie.

WHP said Archie was not wearing a seat belt.

This is the 109th fatality on Wyoming's highways in 2018. That number is down from numbers in the previous 3 years. 2017 had 121 crash fatalities, while there were 111 in 2016, and 142 in 2015.

The fatality comes on the heels of WYDOT being awarded a federal grant to improve sections of I-80 between Laramie and Rawlins for safer winter travel.
