Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts, because we could be shoveling snow by this time next month. The Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting a cold start for autumn in southeastern Wyoming this year, with the first snow of the season set for the last week in September.

Temperatures around the High Plains region will average several degrees below normal in September, according to the Alamanac. They project sunny skies and warm weather in the first half of the month, followed by periods of rain from September 19th through 24th with rain turning to snow between September 25th and 30th.

After our first snow, warm weather is expected to return in October. The Almanac predicts average temperatures will be five degrees above normal with below-average precipitation through the month for Cheyenne, Laramie, and the Front Range.

Since 1792, the almanac has predicted future weather patterns across the country with an 80% accuracy rate (or so they claim). Whatever happens this year, one thing is for certain, it will always be windy in Wyoming.
