LARAMIE – After weeks of practice, the Kindergarten, 1st- and 2nd-grade students at the Indian Paint Elementary School entertained parents, grandparents, family and friends during their Spring Program. The special event was held Thursday, April 4 at the Laramie High School Theatre.

“Down On the Farm” was first on the program, presented by the Kindergarten classes. Students sang a variety of folk songs from America, Ecuador and Argentina, and a Mother Goose rhyme, to the delight of the audience in the packed theatre.

The 1st-grade classes presented “Creature Feature,” complete with lions and tigers and bears (oh my!) and a few cats, crocodiles, squid, frogs and more. The playlist included songs about the zoo, bears, little white ponies, and creatures found “Down by the Bay.”

The grand finale was a short musical written and directed by Jennifer Lyford and presented by the 2nd-grade classes, called “Oh, Susanna.”

Characters like Huckleberry Finn, Polly Wolly Doodle, (My darling) Clementine, Old Joe Clark, Old Dan Tucker, and even Old Dan’s animals, were in search of Susannah, singing several American folk songs and showing off their skills at square dancing.

Teachers, paraprofessionals, special teachers and support staff thanked the guests for attending, as well as the LHS Music department and Michael Hancey for access to the lovely theatre facility and for operating the sound and light system.

A splendid time was had by all.
