Eight years ago we were introduced to Craig Johnson’s Wyoming lawman, Walt Longmire, in his first novel The Cold Dish. Since then we have been treated to the exploits of Longmire as he has dealt with the issues of the CBM boom in Wyoming, to the streets of Philadelphia, to a spiritual encounter in the Big Horns and most recently as a planner for his daughters upcoming wedding. All of these stories with twists and turns along the way have led to a number of awards and recognition from critics and readers alike.

Craig’s writing did capture the attention of the folks at Warner Brothers and they approached Craig to develop the stories and characters of his books for a possible television show. Those initial conversations became reality and now Longmire debuts on the small screen Sunday night June 3rd on A&E television.

Craig joined us to talk about the project and his involvement.

Critic Melissa Hayer calls Longmire,

a refreshing take on the crime drama genre

And with writers from The Closer and a director like Chistopher Chulack from Southland, all the pieces seem to be in place for a successful run for Sherriff Longmire and Craig Johnson as well. Sunday night’s premier is the first of ten one hour episodes and it starts at 8:00PM MDT on A&E.

Craig Johnson continues to write and his latest As the Crow Flies remains on the New York Times Bestseller list in advance of the premier of the television show.

Here is a preview of what you can expect Sunday night.
