University of Wyoming head men's basketball coach Larry Shyatt has signed his fifth recruit in Larry Nance Jr. to complete his first recruiting class.  The 6'7", 205 lb. wing from Richfield, Ohio averaged 18.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, 2.6 steal and 2.3 assists per game.

He had a standout prep career at Revere High School, where the Minutemen went 21-2 this past season, the best record in school history. They also went 13-0 in league play and won their second-straight Suburban League Championship.

Shyatt said this apears to be the final piece of a solid recruiting class and also seems to be a perfect fit.

Shyatt on Nance Jr.

Nance's father, Larry Sr., played in the NBA from 1981-1994 for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns. He was a three-time All-Star and is known for winning the NBA's first-ever dunk contest in 1984 (watch below). He also played college basketball at Clemson and while Shyatt was the head coach there, he took advantage of the opportunity to get to know Larry Sr.

Larry Jr. has already started to show he can live up to the expectations that come with being his father's son. Nance was named his high school team MVP and leaves as the school's all-time leader in blocked shots for a career, season and game. Following the season he was named Second Team All-Ohio, First Team All-Suburban League and First Team All-District.  He has played in numerous all-star games and earned MVP honors following the Greater Akron Basketball Coaches Association all-star game.

Nance will join the Cowboys for the 2011-12 season along with Lekan Ajayi, Derrious Gilmore, Riley Grabau and Tyrone Marshall. Watch highlights of Larry Nance Jr. below.
