The University of Wyoming Cowgirl soccer squad will open Mountain West play at home with two matches this weekend.

Friday at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex the Cowgirls will take on San Jose State at 4 p.m. Then on Sunday, the Fresno State Bulldogs will visit for a match at 11 a.m.

Wyoming is 4-1-3 on the season and unbeaten at home, in Laramie, since the 2013 season.

Cowgirls head coach Pete Cuadrado said, "We are excited to get to conference. Everybody starts with a new record, we have to make sure that we come out and are ready to play."

Sophomore forward Shaina Ashouri leads the team with six goals this season. That total is second best in the Mountain West.

The Spartans come to Laramie with a 2-4-2 record, while Fresno State enters the weekend at 1-6. Wyoming defeated both teams last season.
