If you're a part of the heavier than normal traffic expected on Wyoming roads over the Independence Day Holiday, there's an extra incentive to watch your speed. The Wyoming Highway Patrol began a statewide campaign on Friday with saturation patrols and increased enforcement activity through midnight on July 4th. All Troopers will be required to work the holiday.

Sgt. Stephen Townsend says that during 2010 Independence Holiday Troopers investigated two fatal crashes with two fatalities. Authorities are encouraging anyone who observes a driver they  believe to be driving while impaired to call the REDDI (Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately) hotline number at 800-442-9090 to make the report to a Wyoming Highway Patrol dispatcher.

We remain focused on our highway safety goals and objectives as outlined in our strategic plan: Reduce Highway Fatalities, Alcohol Related Crashed, Injury Crash and taking a 'Zero Tolerance' in seat belt infractions.
-Lieutenant John Butler

Any additional overtime hours worked by Troopers will be paid by a Federal overtime grant that has been secured by WYDOT's Highway Safety Program.
