A policy in which the use of service animals in classrooms is being considered by the Campbell County School District. The school district currently doesn't have a service animal policy. The public can voice their opinions at two meetings that will be held this month.  After the meetings a final vote on the guidelines will take place.

Campbell County School District officials are considering rules that have been modeled after the 2010 Americans With Disabilities Act guidelines for service dogs. If permission is granted by the school district  and vaccination documentation is provided then service animals would be allowed in Campbell County schools.

For those needing service dog assistance  the policy would prove to be beneficial. However if the policy is enacted, animal owners would be liable for any harm or injury that occurs to students, staff and visitors. Owners would also be held responsible for any damage to property.
