Bestselling author and Casper native, Ron Franscell will be holding a book signing and discussion today at the University of Wyoming American Heritage Center from 3-5pm.

Franscell is a bestselling author and journalist out of San Antonio, TX and will be in Laramie today to speak about two of his new books. Today's event is part of a nine-city book tour with stops in Casper, Wheatland and Denver's Tattered Cover Book Store.

His book "The Crime Buff's Guide To The Outlaw Rockies" was released in September and is the first ever travel guide to 400 sites that are associated with the criminal history of Wyoming and Colorado. The book is complete with GPS coordinates of significant places in the book.

The second of two books Franscell will be discussing is "The Sourtoe Cocktail Club." In the book Franscell shares his account of a road trip he took with his teenage son to the Yukon. In the book, he and his son are in search of a tavern that serves a cocktail not for the faint of heart. The supposed drink contains a mummified human toe that must touch your lips when you drink.

Not only does the book share the travels of father and son but also follows the two into the Arctic where they camp on the longest day of the year. The book explores the dynamics of a father and son relationship and attempts to answer the question, "where does the road go?"

Ron Franscell 's work has appeared in the Washington Post, Chicago Sun-Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Denver Post, San Jose Mercury-News, St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
