Flooding is occurring in many places around the state. Laramie has yet to see the water level grow out of control but every precaution is being taken to avoid flooding hazards. This morning at 9am to 12pm, The Big Laramie Volunteer Fire Department is asking for the communities help in filling sand bags to prepare for flooding in Laramie.

This morning at 9am the BLVFD will be filling sand bags at the fire house located at 2004 Wyoming Highway 230. The past two weekends the department has filled 2,000 sandbags and supplied 1,000 bags that were used in the Woods Landing area. Anyone wanting to volunteer to fill sandbags can show up at the fire house at 9am. The filling of sandbags will only go to approximately 12pm today.

The sand bags are a preemptive effort to help contain flood waters. The goal is to fill 1,000 bags each Saturday for the next three weeks. Laramie wants to make sure all necessary precautions are taken this year in regards to flooding. Emergency personnel in Albany County say they are watching the Laramie River and it's tributaries very closely.

Help Laramie be as safe as it can be during this Spring flooding season by helping fill sand bags this morning at 9am to 12pm at the firehouse in West Laramie.
