Question:

Why is the city ordinance regarding lights on bicycles not being enforced? I regularly see bikes without any lights riding by LPD cars at night, and none of them ever seem to be stopped. These bikes can cause a lot of dangerous situations, especially in residential areas without streetlights.

Answer:

"Laramie Municipal Code requires cyclists riding after dark to have a white light that is visible 50 feet to the front and at least a reflector that is mounted to the rear of the bike. Laramie police enforce this ordinance as time allows, similar to all other ordinances. Beyond the ordinances, it is recommended that flashing strobes, either bike or helmet mounted, be used to enhance visibility for riders during dark or low light times of the day."

Ask the City Of Laramie is your chance to send the city that burning question that you have always wondered about such as: “How can I get a city parking permit?” or “Why did my water usage rates go through the roof?”

Please note that the City of Laramie will answer as many questions as possible at their discretion.
